brotherbeat's Soul Confusion was a monthly night I had in the East Village of NYC in the early 2000s in a living room sized bar that no longer exists. My sets were eclectic both in terms of genre and tempo; they created an aural stage for easy conversation, warm, each song distinctive without being intrusive, until you actually listened. The ebb and flow of the tempo mimicked that of conversation. It was mostly unplanned except for a core mix it mostly depended on what felt good

Soul Confusion is as close to an obvious brand as I can get. The genre thing bores me and it's easier to think of all music as soul music because that's where I feel it. brotherbeat's Soul Confusion became my long mix repository while I was in Barcelona and it will become the new home for my podcast.

brotherbeat's Soul Confusion isn't intended to be an active listening experience, it's a soundtrack for a life well lived.
